A very favorable microclimate. First and foremost, the terroir of Château Pesquié is one of the coolest microclimates in the southern Rhône Valley. Secondly, it offers significant mineral diversity with predominantly limestone soils. Without a doubt, Mont Ventoux creates exceptional conditions for producing great wines. The winery is located between three villages: Mormoiron, Blauvac, and Ville-sur-Auzon. The southern slope of Mont Ventoux receives high levels of sunlight. These optimal conditions for the vineyard's health are further enhanced by the frequent gusts of the northern Mistral wind, which quickly dries up any rare rainfall. ORGANIC FARMING & BIODYNAMICS At Château Pesquié, the expression of the unique Ventoux terroir and the preservation of the vineyard (the vines average 40 years old) are ensured through sustainable and responsible practices. In 1993, Château Pesquié was the first cellar selected by the Farre network, which stands for "Forum de l'Agriculture Raisonnée et Respectueuse de l'Environnement" (Forum for Reasoned and Environmentally Friendly Agriculture). Since then, the vineyard, also followed by Ecocert, gradually transitioned to organic farming: the first plots were certified organic in 2007. Alexandre and Frédéric Chaudière learned about biodynamics from Vincent Masson and now manage the entire vineyard using the main biodynamic preparations (horn manure, horn silica, organic compost, horse tail, yarrow, chamomile, valerian, etc.). They have also worked hard on vegetative cover, adapting grass cover and green manures to each type of soil and variety. The wines of Château Pesquié express the freshness of the Ventoux terroir, with respect for the purity of the fruit and the savory flavors of its mineral variety. It's a meticulous process, from vineyard management to barrel selection and the choice of different vessels for vinification and aging (barrels, amphorae, concrete or stainless steel tanks, etc.).
